ARTIST BIO

Kathryn Hunkele was born in Brooklyn, New York in 1990 but grew up in Phoenix, Arizona where she studied art at Arizona State University and received her BFA in Printmaking in 2018. She is currently based out of Tempe, Arizona and her work is largely inspired by loss and the fragility of life as well as the everyday human experiences that intertwine with these concepts. With a preference for intaglio processes - particularly copper etching, she has been strongly influenced by the works of Goya, Otto Dix, and Käthe Kollwitz.
